ABOUT ME

I am driven by the contrasting worlds with which I grew up. At birth, I was given my mother's Dutch surname instead of my father's Moroccan surname, partly to prevent discrimination. As a young girl, I didn't understand my parents' choice. The questions that arose over time developed into the themes of my work, which are about human interaction and perception and the way in which these themes are intertwined with the nature/nurture influences.

Within my practice I aim to involve different disciplines in order to build a bridge between rational understanding and emotions/perception. This includes the use of research, photography, filmmaking, sound and writing.
